Harlequin splash

This is the second in a series of paintings from a Rhode Island trip in March. Getting a bit closer allowed me to showcase the brilliant blue, chestnut, and slaty gray of the male. This surf was a bit calmer than that in my first painting. It was quiet enough for us to hear the squeaky “sea mouse” calls of the birds chattering with each other. Have a listen to these calls here.

Both paintings—Harlequins in the spray and Harlequin splash—are acrylic on wood panel, measuring 10x20 inches. They’re for sale now, below.
