This yellow warbler diptych is nearly finished. I designed it to hang side by side.

These two yellow warblers are having a face-off on a bud-bursting downy shadbush. I took the reference photos on the D&H rail trail not far from my home in West Pawlet, Vermont. I’m reminded of a line from Winnie-the-Pooh when Pooh says to Piglet, “Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.” As I think back to this spring day in my own Hundred Acre Wood, like Pooh, I think that nobody can be uncheered by a warbler song. This painting is simply about a gift of joy, new life, and the promise of spring.

With a few finishing touches, this work will be up for sale on my site very soon. Yellow warbling spring is acrylic on birch panels, two paintings each measuring 18 x 14 inches.
