Last painting of 2022

Just finished. Maybe I’ll squeeze another one in this year, but maybe not.

The finishing touches were all about the reflections—I must have repainted them four times—and some specific details of water droplets on the head, beak and back of these diving birds. I remember how these puffins—like buffleheads—would be up one minute, then dive and reappear who knows how far away. The water rolled off their backs like diamonds, a few droplets momentarily clinging to their backs and beaks, a very brief moment in time.

It’s been a great painting year for me, and I want to take a moment to thank you for your support and enthusiasm for my work. I love getting your comments, and I’d love to hear from you anytime.

There’s still time for me to ship to you in time for a holiday gift, depending on the distance, but that window is rapidly closing. Have a great holiday!

Puffins in the swells is a 10 x 20 inch acrylic painted on a wood panel.
